Paranormal State Illustrated
Paranormal State Illustrated
Taking a close look at what you see and hear on a “Real Life. Drama.” TV series.
We are shown what appear to be two incidents of broken light bulbs occurring back-to-back. But it’s one broken bulb; passed off as happening twice. The bigger fake? It didn’t happen here.
THE GLOVE: ONE BROKEN BULB used TWICE
1. Bulb at approx. 17 min 34 sec into the episode.
2. Bulb at approx. 18 min 07 sec into the episode.
2nd BROKEN BULB INCIDENT

Look at the center cluster of broken glass, and compare the shards with the screenshot on the right. Do you see the same pieces in the same location?

Although the video images in Broken Bulb Incident #1 & #2 are from slightly different angles, they show the same broken glass (fluorescent bulb?). The two video segments were simply edited in post-production to give the appearance that there were two breaking-glass situations- by repeating the same incident, only using segments from different takes. This is an example of creative editing.
It is very likely that the broken-bulb scenes weren’t even shot in Lisa and Eric’s house, because the concrete block wall in the scene with the broken glass is unpainted. Their upstairs bedroom floors are wooden, and the concrete block wall in the scene where Heather is in their basement, is painted.
Since there was one broken glass incident portrayed as two distinct incidents, this casts doubt as to what’s credible on the show. So if the show misled viewers into believing there were two broken light incidents, why should we believe the broken bulb was caused by a purported spirit?
Upstairs at 3:00 AM was a Dead Time gathering including Lisa and Eric- the homeowners in Daisytown, Pennsylvania. Ryan, Chad and others, try to communicate with Alec, the great-grandfather of Eric. Ryan asks for a sound, and we hear a sound. “Psychic” Michelle Belanger acts all riled up and after she proclaims “Come on wife beater!” we hear what might be the sound of breaking glass. For reference, I’ll call this Broken Bulb Incident #1. Ryan concludes that “The light broke.”
ALSO, THIS DID NOT HAPPEN UPSTAIRS
Notice the unpainted concrete block wall construction, and what appears to be a concrete floor. But the upstairs walls and floors in Eric and Lisa’s house were made of wood.
A short time after Broken Bulb Incident #1, Lisa says to the alleged spirit “You pick on me every night, pick on a grown man.” Some creaking noise is heard, then we see some shaky camera movements and afterwards, Chad energetically exclaims “Whoa!” Using his professional experience and terminology, he says: “Dude, it just like, came down!”
I did not see any overhead fluorescent light fixtures in the client’s home, so I don’t know where the bulb came from. The broken glass has the appearance of a fluorescent tube.
We are presented with what appears to be two distinct, broken glass (fluorescent tube?) events, occurring one right after the other, and presumably caused by the spirit of a miner. You have been misled. Both incidents are of the same broken glass. But the even bigger fabrication is that this scene could not have happen upstairs in Lisa and Eric’s house, and most likely was not shot in their home.

1st BROKEN BULB INCIDENT
Screenshot 1 from Paranormal State “The Glove”
To make it easier to see, this image was lightened from how it appeared in the episode.
Similar footage of the same glass, which has the appearance of a fluorescent tube, was used for both broken bulb scenarios. The first scene was a wide-shot, and the second scene was a close-up. But the fact remains, we are looking at the same broken glass.
The upstairs of the house had two bedrooms. One bedroom had curtains covering the windows and had peeling wallpaper. The other bedroom, being remodeled, had wooden boards up to about waist-high, and you could see the exposed studs behind them, extending to the ceiling. Concrete block wall construction was not used as a foundation for either of the upstairs bedroom walls.
But, in the background of Screenshot #1, you can clearly see an unpainted, concrete block wall construction. And, the floor was made of concrete. This is in contrast to Lisa and Eric’s home, which I believe the upstairs had a wooden floor. Therefore, it is my opinion the broken bulb scenes were not shot upstairs at Lisa and Eric’s house; and it’s quite possible this was footage was shot at some other building or house. The concrete block visible in Lisa and Eric’s basement was painted.
FOUR REASONS WHY I DON’T BELIEVE THE BROKEN BULB SCENES WERE SHOT IN LISA’S HOUSE:
REASON #1: One upstairs bedroom had wood from the floor up, with no concrete block wall or concrete floor.

UPSTAIRS BEDROOM #1- HAS WOOD ON THE WALLS
Three walls of this upstairs bedroom are framed with wood, making it impossible to have concrete block construction as in the 1st Broken Bulb Incident. Also, this floor is wooden.

Appears at approximately 11 minutes 52 seconds.
CLIENT’S CONCRETE BLOCK WALL IS PAINTED
The concrete block wall construction in the client’s basement, visible behind Heather, is painted. But the concrete block seen in the 1st Broken Bulb Incident, does not appear to be painted.

UPSTAIRS BEDROOM #2- HAS WALLPAPERED WALLS
Three walls in the other upstairs bedroom have wallpaper, with no visible concrete block construction or concrete floor, as seen in the 1st Broken Bulb Incident.
REASON #2: The other upstairs bedroom had wallpapered walls; no concrete block wall, and no concrete floor.
REASON #3: The concrete block that’s visible in Lisa and Eric’s basement is painted.
Since their concrete block basement walls are painted, and the walls in the scene with the broken glass are not painted, it is unlikely that the broken bulb scene was shot in their house.
REASON #4: There are distinct edits between PRS members and the broken glass shots on a floor.
We see PRS members, Chad, Michelle, and the clients before and after the broken glass scenes, but no one is seen in the frame at the same time as the broken glass. Also, there are no items repeated, like boxes, or people; in both the wide-angle room scenes, and the close-ups with the broken glass.
Another important fact is that the broken glass is on a concrete floor, but Eric and Lisa’s house have wooden floors upstairs. And one of the broken glass scenes has an unpainted concrete block wall visible in the background, but their purportedly haunted house doesn’t have concrete block bedroom walls.
It is my opinion that the following dialog was either outlined or scripted for this episode, because there were two portrayals of broken light bulbs, and yet we only see evidence of one broken bulb; and the light that was portrayed as being upstairs, could not have been filmed upstairs because the client’s house doesn’t have concrete bedroom floors and concrete block wall construction. So it’s possible someone planned the broken light scenario to happen at Lisa and Eric’s house, but shot the broken glass close-ups somewhere else.

Almost immediately after hearing what’s supposed to be the first breaking bulb, another breaking sound is heard.
